About IsoViewer
The IsoViewer tool was developed to help diagnose Enterprise import issues by providing a visual representation of the data being imported. Each part in the model is represented by a line/cylinder linked to the raw data provided during the import, providing an easy visual way to very that the model provided by the import file or web service matches the model originally generated in CAD.
IsoViewer is used to identify issues in the import such as missing or extra items, incorrect spatial properties, and data inconsistencies. When import issues are discovered during an Enterprise import workflow, It can be used to compare the staged import data with the CAD model or spool sheet to help identify and fix the import data.
The tool is built into the Enterprise Import Manager, and is available as a licensed standalone install.
Using IsoViewer
IsoViewer provides a simple representation of a part using a line with two end-points that define its position in 3D space. A cylinder is drawn around the to represent the outer diameter of the part. This simplistic representation provides a the very basic data needed to define a part with two straight end cuts and identify intersection points that can later be parsed to define miter, saddle and hole cuts. The viewer does not attempt to represent cut types or other data as that is vendor/importer specific and processed by the business logic of those importers.
The IsoViewer main window is divided into 3 sections, the Viewer, a data search/display section on the right, and a log section at the bottom.
The Viewer can rotate and display the model using different the mouse, keyboard and View menu options. Clicking on an item in the viewer will show associated raw data in the data section. Click in the viewer and then press the F1 key to see a list of available mouse and keyboard commands.
The data section shows the raw data provided by the file or web service for the selected part. At the top of the section are two dropdowns that allow one to search for items by either the unique id or spool tag id, when these are provided in the original data.
The log section shows the Enterprise import and parsing process logging and errors that may have occurred during that process.
Enterprise
The version of IsoViewer built into Enterprise is preconfigured for each importer. Loading the importer and then opening IsoViewer will automatically load the correct data and parsers for that importer.
The tool version of IsoViewer includes a menu bar with Open and Support menus. The Open menu allows the user to load data from any licensed file type or web service. A SDK license usually includes one license for a specified importer. The Support menu provides options to activate licenses, check for updates and package up the log files and import data for review by PypeServer Support.
Troubleshooting
The IsoViewer tool can be useful for diagnosing missing parts, incorrect end-cuts, and missing hole-cuts. By comparing the CAD model spool to the parts shown in IsoViewer one can usually determine where the issue is and how to resolve it.
Missing Parts
Missing parts are usually source specific and are often due to some pipes or fittings not being included in the spool that is later imported into Enterprise.
- Use the search boxes in the detail section to locate the unique CAD or Spool Id of the missing part.
- When the part can be found:
- Examine the log section for parsing errors found while attempting to create the part from the import data.
- When the part cannot be found:
- Examine the spool creation and contents in the source system that generated the file or web service results.
- Confirm all spool parts are grouped so they are all available in one file or spool./job retrieved from the web service.
Incorrect End-Cuts
Missing or non-intersecting parts can cause saddle or miter cuts to be imported as straight cuts.
- Click to select the part with the incorrect cuts, or use the search boxes in the detail section to find the part by unique CAD or Spool Id.
- Examine the ends of the selected part and confirm there is another part intersecting the part being examined.
- Both parts must intersect each other inside their outer diameters before a miter or saddle cut can be identified and calculated by Enterprise.
Missing Hole-Cuts
Missing or non-intersecting parts can cause holes to not be identified during import.
- Click to select the part with the missing cuts, or use the search boxes in the detail section to find the part by unique CAD or Spool Id.
- Examine the selected part and confirm there is another part intersecting the part being examined.
- Both parts must intersect each other inside their outer diameters before a miter or saddle cut can be identified and calculated by Enterprise.
Installation
Enterprise
IsoViewer is integrated into Enterprise and can be found on the Importing tab ribbon. It is enabled only when parts are staged for import.
Note: The standalone tool installer is only available to selected customers and partners on request.
Install
Download the install package using the link provided by PypeServer.
Once downloaded, run the installer package to install the CodeMeter Runtime package and IsoViewer to your local system.
Licensing
Like other PypeServer products, the IsoViewer standalone version is licensed using
WIBU CodeMeter. The IsoViewer installer will install the CodeMeter Runtime if it is not already installed.
IsoViewer is licensed when it can find either an Enterprise or SDK license locally or on the network.
Enterprise Licensing
If you have an Enterprise license then there is no additional licensing required.
SDK Licensing
PypeServer provides a SDK and Import license set for standalone installs.
To install a SDK and Import license.
1. Either open a browser window to our PypeServer License Portal, or start IsoViewer and select Activate License from the Support menu.
2. Enter the the ticket code for your SDK License.
3. Review your licenses and then click the "Activate License" button.
4.Click on CmActLicense for your License Container Type.
5. Click the "Activate Selected Licenses Now" button.
A new CmactLicense container will be installed by CodeMeter and the licenses will then be added to it.
6. Close your browser window after the license install has completed,
7. Start IsoViewer
